He declared that the lockdown\nthat started from March 23 would continue until May 3, 2020, in the face of\ncoronavirus cases in India crossing 10,000. Here are the top things to take\nnote of from the speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/pmspeechlockdown-1.jpeg\" alt=\"COVID 19 Test in India\" class=\"wp-image-8748\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tata-blog.osian.dev\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/pmspeechlockdown-1.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/tata-blog.osian.dev\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/pmspeechlockdown-1-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/tata-blog.osian.dev\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/pmspeechlockdown-1-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/tata-blog.osian.dev\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/pmspeechlockdown-1-770x433.jpeg 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The PM stated that the combat efforts against\nCOVID-19 are in full swing. He acknowledged the difficulties that the\ncountrymen were facing and lauded their efforts towards fighting the outbreak.<\/li><li>The PM reminded Indians that the government\nwas proactive in controlling the spread of coronavirus, implementing measures\nsuch as social distancing, closing down public places, screening international\npassengers, making quarantine compulsory for people returning from foreign\nlands, etc. It resulted in India being in a favorable position compared to many\nother countries in terms of controlling the pandemic.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>He announced that experts, including the heads\nof the states, have suggested an extension of the lockdown. Hence it is being\nextended for 19 more days.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>The PM warned people that the lockdown\nregulations would become more stringent to prevent new hotspots from cropping\nup. The authorities will be closely monitoring public activity.<\/li><li>He declared that the government would issue\ncomplete guidelines on Wednesday.<\/li><li>He assured that in places where the threat of\ncoronavirus mitigates, some relaxations might be permitted after April 20 as a\nreprieve to daily wage earners. However, those will be revoked if new\ninfections start resurfacing.<\/li><li>He stated that to aid the poor, the Pradhan\nMantri Garib Kalyan Yojana is in place.&nbsp;<\/li><li>During this harvest season of Rabi crops, the\ngovernment will consider the interests of farmers.<\/li><li>The PM also reassured that there is no\nshortage of medicines and ration in the country. The government is resolving\nchallenges in the maintenance of the supply chain consistently.<\/li><li>Another piece of encouraging information is\nthat the number of labs for testing coronavirus infection has increased to over\n220.<\/li><li>He also declared that there are developments on\nthe healthcare infrastructure front.
