But the new KTM 890 Duke has an engine displacement of 889 cc capable of 113 bhp along with a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 8000 rpm. It is way high compared to the 10bhp and 5 Nm offered by the former model. The KTM 890 is powered by an 889cc liquid cooled, 8 valve parallel twin engine type with an increased engine power of 115 HP and a 68 lb-ft torque.

The Scalpel is a manifestation of the perfect balance between high performance and the practical aspects of the on-road demands.  If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, you would know that the actual performance depends on the power-to-weight ratio of the bike. With the same weight of 169kg as its former model, KTM 890 definitely has a better power-to-weight ratio.

Its 6D lean-angle sensitive traction mechanism keeps you from drifting and offers the following rider-modes.

  • Street mode – Standard throttle response, normal TC, full power and anti-wheelie.
  • Sport mode  – Sport response, reduced TC, full power and anti-wheelie.
  • Rain mode    – Smooth throttle response, maximum TC, reduced power and anti-wheelie.

And if you’re looking for some fun and excitement, the new KTM 890 Duke optional ‘track’ mode allows you to take it to the next level and pop a wheelie, for instance. It also includes launch control along with nine levels of traction control, covering all the functions required to ride on a racetrack. Moreover, the new tyres called the ‘Continental ContiRoads’ further improve the grip while reaching the optimum operating temperature reasonably fast.

When it comes to ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), Duke 890 comes with the SuperMoto ABS mode. It offers switchable (dual-mode) ABS cornering, enabling a controlled halt when needed. Also, the new WP Apex USD fork and gas-charged preload-adjustable monoshock ensures better compression and rebound damping, thus enhancing the overall rider experience.

The KTM 890 Duke price ranges between Rs. 8-10 lakhs in India, competitive when compared to KTM 890 Duke R. The latter will cost around Rs. 10 lakhs.
