Tata Capital > Blog > How to Apply for CLCS Scheme for MSMEs and Industries Included in it
Did you know around 500 new multinational corporations (MNCs) are projected to establish captive centres in India by FY25?
In today’s competitive business environment, India’s Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) must upgrade technologically to compete effectively. Numerous small-scale industries in India, such as khadi, village, and coir industrial units, rely on outdated technology.
Recognising the struggles the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) faced, the government initiated the Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS) for technology upgradation. CLCSS offers vital support by providing subsidies for technology advancement, enabling enterprises to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
Read on to learn how CLCSS can empower MSEs for success.
The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (M/o MSME) introduced the Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS) to address the challenge MSEs face in upgrading their technology due to the increasing cost of machinery and advanced technology.
This scheme provides upfront credit assistance to MSEs for technology upgradation, particularly benefiting small and micro enterprises in semi-urban and rural areas.
Here’s what you need to know about the eligibility for Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme for MSMEs:

Let’s understand how this initiative supports MSEs in pursuing growth and innovation. Take a look at the benefits of the CLCSS subsidy:
Under CLCSS, Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) receive a 15% subsidy on acquiring advanced technology. This subsidy directly translates into a reduced reliance on business loans, allowing them to access the necessary machinery and equipment without bearing the full financial brunt.
Adopting advanced technology facilitated by CLCSS enhances the operational efficiency of MSEs. With modern machinery and equipment, MSEs can streamline production processes, lower production costs, and maximise profits.
The growth of rural industries by CLCSS creates jobs for local communities. As MSEs expand their operations and invest in updating their technology, they contribute to improved living standards and economic development.
CLCSS empowers even micro, small, and medium-scale industries to manufacture high-quality products and compete globally. By embracing advanced technology, MSEs can adhere to international standards and effectively penetrate global markets, bolstering India’s position in the global business landscape.
One of the key advantages of CLCSS is its support for small-scale industries in adapting to modern technology and scaling up their production capacities. By providing financial assistance for technology advancement, CLCSS enables MSEs to evolve with changing market dynamics, expand their operations, and realise their growth potential.
Micro and small enterprises (MSEs) frequently encounter challenges raising funds to invest in cutting-edge technology. With financial assistance and subsidies, CLCSS helps bridge the funding gap and encourages MSEs to adopt modern technology. The CLCSS subsidy guidelines outline the framework and procedures for implementing the scheme in MSEs.
