Expecting that 5G-capable devices will uplift the consistently slumping smartphone market in 2020, Samsung has unveiled Galaxy A51 and A71 in 5G formats. The new smartphones have been launched in the U.S., where the Korean tech giant owns a 20% market share. 4G versions of Galaxy A51 and A71 were released by the company in December 2019, but with these new offerings, find out what the global smartphone leader has enhanced for its patrons. 

Industry-leading features

The design and display of the novel Galaxy siblings are unparalleled. Both Galaxy A51 and A71 have a sleek (185g and 187g respectively) and premium glossy body available in shades of pastels. While A71 is presented in prism cube black, blue and silver, its sibling is available in prism cube black, white and pink. 

Samsung Galaxy A51 & A71 Display

The top model, A71, comes with a 6.7-inch, while A51 features a slightly smaller screen of 6.5-inch, though both the phones offer 20:9 aspect ratio, FHD + Super AMOLED and a starring Infinity-O display. The phones also have an in-display fingerprint sensor for the tech-advanced.

Samsung Galaxy A51 & A71 Camera

They are powered by 2.2 GHz Octa-core Exynos 980 8nm processor and come with 6/8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, externally expandable up to 1TB. On the connectivity arm, these devices offer 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS and USB Type-C. For lovers of sweeping photography, the 5G Galaxy versions are a boon. The quad-camera set-up supports intelligent photography, along with faster and easier sharing. Galaxy A71 hosts a 64MP primary lens, along with a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP macro camera, a 5MP depth sensor and a 32MP selfie shooter, providing professional-quality, delicate images. Galaxy A51 5G offers a 48MP primary camera, at par with industry standards. The other camera qualifications remain the same as its high-end sibling. These phones allow capturing of ultra-high quality live videos with an automatic stabilizing ability.

About the battery, both A71 and A51 5G come with a 4,500mAh power pack, but the former supports 25W fast charging, while the latter has 15W fast charging support. 

Pricing and availability

On the pricing front, Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is offered at $599 (INR 45,500), while Galaxy A51 5G is available at $499 (INR 37,900). Both models are expected to be available for retail this summer.
