Chinese phone maker Xiaomi believes in providing superior performance products at a mid-range price. It reported consensus-beating results in 2019 with steady growth across all its business segments, especially smartphones. In hopes of continuing its winning streak, Xiaomi Corporation has announced a new variant of Mi 10 Lite 5G, which was earlier released in Europe in March 2020. Mi 10 Lite 5G’s new version will be exclusively unveiled in China alongside MIUI 12 on April 27.

About Mi 10 Lite 5G

As per the teaser poster released by the company on its social media handle, Weibo, the Chinese variant of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G will feature a periscope camera setup along with three powerful lenses. The new camera will allow users up to 50x zoom capability. Though this is a standard Mi 10 series feature, no other Mi predecessors particularly offer a periscope camera feature. It will, thus, be exciting to see if the new launch can positively surprise the patrons.

The novel phone will be called Mi 10 Youth Edition and will reportedly be available in four different colors and variants including 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. Xiaomi’s new launch is also expected to offer a large expandable memory to cater to the growing storage needs of consumers.

MIUI 12

About MIUI 12

Along with Mi 10 Lite 5G, Xiaomi Corporation is also set to unveil a new version of its operating system MIUI12 out-of-the-box, with better gesture controls and customizations. Users expect the new MIUI to have fresh fonts, while still offer an aesthetically minimal design like MIUI 11.

Pricing and availability

No official details about the pricing of Mi 10 Lite 5G have been released by the Chinese electronics company. Though it is expected to be at par with its European counterpart at EUR 349, that is approximately INR 29,000. Easy accessibility of interest-free loans can make this a very comfortable buy for Indian consumers.

Information about the availability of the new smartphone and operating system are expected to be disclosed by Xiaomi at the launch event on April 27, streaming live at 2 pm local time.

The Mi 10 smartphone series was scheduled to be unveiled in India on March 31, but due to the extended COVID-19 lockdown till May 3, there will be more than expected delay in its availability. However, with Xiaomi Corporation touching more than $5 billion in revenues in the country, it is expected that the smartphone maker will soon come out with an Indian version of the new Mi 10 Lite 5G.
