Redmi K30 5G Speed Edition with Snapdragon 768G to be Announced on May 11

In December 2019, Chinese tech company Xiaomi had released the K30 5G series. Now, adding to its lineup of smartphones is an upgraded variant known as the K30 5G Speed Edition. Stunning photos of the smartphone have been released on the website Weibo – showcasing icy blue, mint white, pink and purple colours. What’s interesting is that K30 5G Speed Edition is supposedly powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 768 processor, which remains to be confirmed by Qualcomm.  However, a live stream event to be held in China around May 14th will let users know more about the smartphones features in detail. Here’s what is known so far:

Display and design

The teasers released on Weibo showcase K30 5G Speed Edition featuring a 6.67-inch display with a dual punch hole at the front. This punch hole houses the front camera. The display quality is full HD+ along with LCD and has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The smartphone has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and is touted to have 4.25mm ultra narrow frames.

Considering the released camera specifications for the K30 5G Speed Edition, one can safely assume that the smartphone has a triple rear camera setup. The primary camera has a 64MP lens, an 8MP wide angular lens and a 5MP macro lens. The smartphone has two front cameras of 20MP, which is evident because of the twin punch holes. One can also safely assume that K30 5G Speed Edition will be a part of the easily available phones on EMI upon its release.

Connectivity options

In terms of connectivity, this is not the first time Redmi is venturing into the 5G arena. However, since it is powered by the mysterious 768 chipset, K30 5G Speed Edition is touted to have enhanced performance levels. Until then users can expect basic connectivity options like dual band 5G and WiFi, NFC and Bluetooth support. The images in the teaser also show slots for a headphone jack and a Type-C port.

Processor and battery

K30 5G Speed Edition is rumoured to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 768 octa core processor. This processor will be an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 765 chipset. The processor is paired with a RAM of 6GB and an internal storage capacity of 128GB. The smartphone is also rumoured to run on a 4500mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. These two features are yet to be ascertained.

There is no confirmed date of the smartphone’s official offline launch in China or around the globe. But JD.com (a Chinese e-commerce website) hints at its estimated price. The smartphone is priced around INR 21,419 which suggests that it aims its sale among the mid-range sector. No matter how affordable a phone is, it is always best to remain financially prepared for a purchase.
