Xiaomi Redmi Y3 Review

The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 smartphone was launched in April 2019. For a phone which costs less than 10K, many would argue that it is the best smartphone in the price range. Let’s have a look at the internal and external aspects of one of the top phones in this segment now. 

Screen Display: It has a 6.26-inch screen display with a resolution of 720×1520 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. It has an HD+ resolution with decent colors and viewing angles.  The screen has Gorilla Glass 5 for scratch protection. The back of the phone has the dual camera module along with flash and fingerprint sensors.

Processor: Xiaomi Redmi Y3 has a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor. It gives a satisfactory speed for regular activities, but not when used for things like high-end gaming. It comes in two variants – 3GB and 4GB of RAM respectively.

Operating System: The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 runs on MIUI 10.2 which is based on the Android 9 Pie version. There is pre-installed bloatware in the system that can bother the user with spam notifications. Its 4,000mAh battery lasts for over a day with normal use. 

Camera:

a. Main Camera: It has a 12-megapixel primary camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 1.25-micron, similar to the Redmi 7. It comes with AI scene recognition and phase detection autofocus. The picture quality is decent with sufficient light. However, users have noted the false color and smoothening of textures.

b. Selfie Camera: It boasts of a 32-megapixel camera on the front which can be great for selfies. It can also be used for shooting selfie videos at 1080 pixels resolution, although the output in night recording can be a bit grainy. 

Memory: The phone has inbuilt storage of 32GB which is further expandable up to 512GB via microSD card with a dedicated slot. The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 is a dual-SIM (GSM only) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM cards only.

Other features: The connectivity options available on the Redmi Y3 phone are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.20, Infrared, USB OTG, Micro-USB, FM radio, GPS, 3G, and 4G VOLTE, with active 4G on both SIM cards. The Y3 also has sensors like accelerometer, compass, magnetometer, proximity sensor and fingerprint sensor. The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 has a face unlock function and infrared function that can be used to control IR devices like TV, AC etc.
