You can reach Spiti Valley using different transportation methods, but you’ll need to travel by road no matter how you get there.
By air
The nearest airport to Spiti Valley is Kullu-Manali Airport in Bhuntar, but flights can be limited and may not be available year-round. A more reliable option is to fly into Chandigarh International Airport and then take a taxi or bus to Spiti Valley. A one-way flight from Delhi to Chandigarh costs around Rs 3,500 for economy class.
By train
The closest railway station is either Shimla railway station or Joginder Nagar railway station. The latter is located about 360 kilometres from Spiti Valley. There are no direct trains to this station. If you’re traveling from Delhi, you’ll first need to take a train to Pathankot, then another train to Joginder Nagar, and finally a taxi to Spiti Valley. The train journey can take up to 20 hours.
By road
Spiti Valley is primarily accessible by road, with most routes open year-round. However, some roads may be closed for up to six months. Here are some options for road travel-
